Depict 17 Family Dinner

Family Dinner By Ashley P Saunders, UK

I looked at the title ‘Family Dinner’ and immediately thought about what my family dinners are like and how they could relate to me. The film shows the conversations going around a family which it could lead anywhere. The conversations are about everyday things we may talk about. It’s so appealing to watch because it’s got a lot of humour init.

The camera is placed in the middle off the table and goes around anti-close wise to show the different conversations, which the viewer would feel a part of the film listening to their conversations. Near the ending, the camera shows the sibling talking about kissing people and being gay.

The camera moves onto the mum and grandad until it stopped and refers back clockwise to the siblings because the boy shouted ‘Sophie must be gay too then’ and shares a secret to the family. This shows how we would turn our head if we heard that. Then the camera moves around the table to shows everyone’s reaction until it went back to the siblings then the film finished. The soundtrack was a guitar sound and does not overpower the conversations between the families. The soundtrack did stop when the boy shouted, this is to show how serious the conversation was because the music was a little upbeat. In the ending the girl was going to smack the brother’s head, I liked how the maker added a dramatic smack noise, this made me feel sorry for the boy.
